I could definitely see this in a game.

A bit loud for my tastes, obviously, but I can tell it's well done for what it's supposed to be. Personally though, methinks this'd fare just a tad better if it were a loop. The end just felt like it was put there for no reason other than to stop the music.

VernCarson responds:

You have no idea how right you are. If there's one thing I can't do properly, it's kill the music properly.

Thanks for the review!

Ah yes, I remember the days when I used 'pads and ambience' like this. You have an okay tune here, but there are two main concerns.

The first one is technical. I'm not sure if you notice, but at every high point of the song, it cracks. This is due to the combined frequencies of the song overloading the program. (FL Studio, in this case) To help fix this, Fruity Limiter is useful, which can be found on the Mixer. If you are unfamiliar with how to use these tools or where to find them, consulting an FL Studio tutorial would be helpful.

The second one is in the tone of the song itself. It definitely feels like a first song, and by that, I mean it doesn't have much personality. When making music, you want to create something that tells an interesting story, or fleshes out an interesting scenario. This, of course, is one of the hardest things to learn when composing, and everyone has to learn it a different way. As such, the only thing I would recommend is to just keep making new songs, notice over time which songs endear to you more than others, and listen to other peoples songs that you find you enjoy, doing the same test of endearment with them.

Keep swingin'!

PoonPun responds:

Well thanks for the review Fubaka!
The cracks in the song were pretty intentional actually, I actually like the noise, reminds me of a game called Machinarium which has a few crackles in their music, if I recall.
But thank you for telling me how to fix it, it'll definitely be useful in the future!

But I know what you mean with the thing being a bit soul-less, this is the first song I've done in a while, and it'll take me a while to get in the groove.

Thanks Fubaka!

Hrmm, the title confounds me more than anything. What exactly do you mean when you say it's "Your Last Song"?

Also, the song is interesting, but I think it could have more potential if worked on and expanded.

Werewolfrx responds:

I completely agree, I rushed this project and I wish I spent more hours on it. just a title, a delightful goodbye if you would.

Like the other songs of yours, I find the ending tune outshines the rest of the song, but that's just my personal taste. You certainly can craft interesting melodies. Consider me a fan until further notice.

It may be just an experiment, but I like it. If some background synth pads were added, it'd make a great transition piece in an album.

Y'know, when I hear this song, ruins don't come to mind. I instead think of some kind of futuristic downtempo hangout. The kind of place I'd go to relax and have some light-hearted conversations. It is almost reminiscent of the music from Custom Robo in that sense.

VideoGameManiac responds:

Thats cool and its also what I like about music that everyone has its own imagination :D

Interesting.

The song drones on in repetition, but it feels proper for that repetition to be there. The ending in particular leaves an opening. An expectation of things to come.

I would suggest though that this song is misgenred. It's not so much Ambient as it is Drum n' Bass.

Tis good.

I do find it to be a bit jarring at times though. I do like the underlying melody, but I find the bass lines to undermine it a bit. They are too rough for a melody that sounds this soft and thoughtful.

Perhaps you should make a calmer version.

Qvarcos responds:

Thanks, I'm still learning to compose, this was probably one of my milestones in that process, In the upcoming songs I'm most likely going to do calm(er) ones like the undone song "Katica". In this one I tried how will it come out if i put a soft melody under raw drums like Aphex Twin did in one of his songs. I'm pretty much inspired by him...

Excellente!

This is certainly an ambient song, and it creates lovely mental imagery for me. My only suggestion would be to make the end fade out slower.

Watch out, cause I'm gonna scour your library now!

ZLEAP responds:

Feel free. In fact, I insist.

I'm glad you enjoyed and thank you for the generous review and score.
