Hmm...

It's certainly not a bad song, so I wonder what their standards were...

This would certainly fit well in the background of some kind of artsy platforming game.

VegetarianMeat responds:

Wanted more retro - I didn't really know that till after I made the song though,
originally I was asked to make what I thought would work well.

And yeah I think so too, I was pretty much drawing inspiration of those types of games (knytt in particular). Thanks for the review :)

A nice melody!

I can definitely tell you are an FL Studio user, much like myself. This isn't the type of song that I would download, due to the nature of the sounds used, but I can appreciate the genuine effort you made to make the song have a decent melody!

All-in-all, it is a nice track, but I would heartily recommend trying out some richer samples and/or synths in your music.

decoyultimatum responds:

ya i dont have to much experience with these music generating programs yet but honestly i couldnt dream of changing the instruments i feel they fit whar i was aiming for but i can understand if your preference is different then mine

Interresant!

I don't hear music like this very often on the site, and this piece in particular gives me a very interesting feeling when I listen to it. It gets especially interesting around the 3 minute mark!

Have I found another noteworthy ambient artist to follow on this site? We shall see soon enough! 5/5, +fav!

sympatheticdivision responds:

Cheers! Glad you liked it, it's one of the few tracks I've done which I'm pretty happy with, except for the distortion. Maybe one day I'll fix it, if I can pull myself of the Xbox! I'm hoping to upload some more tracks soon, so please keep the eyes & ears peeled!

A little distorty, but...

The melody is nice!

I would download this if it didn't rattle my ears so much...

Do you have any sort of limiter in your music program?

Flalaski responds:

well, it normally doesn't sound like crap like that. i made it on Milkytracker, and converting XM files into Wav, then to Mp3 kinda kills it... you should download Milkytracker and my xm files. i vill emails you.

thanks!

Excellent Soundscape!

This will be useful as a background drone. Thank you for saving me some searching time!

RxKing responds:

My pleasure!

Pretty nice.

You have a nice synth going on here. It does indeed create a calm, dream-like atmosphere. I just wish you had switched up the underlying melody in places, to give it that little extra kick. For what it's worth though, it ain't half bad.

PS: Sorry for breaking your chain of 10s, but I felt like I needed to comment on this. Cheers!

JakobePaulobe responds:

Haha no problem I'm just happy to receive feedback. I agree with you on this, I wish I had changed it up, but I couldn't find anything else that really fit, and believe me I tried. Anyway, glad you liked the song.

Pretty good.

I think you have a decent song going on here. The main tune and the backdrop compliment each-other pretty well.

However, it is a little too repetitive for my tastes and that string gets a little too deep into my ears.

Here's a word of advice. You probably shouldn't rely on your fans to tell you which direction to go, as that almost always leads to musical stagnation. Music is a strong form of expression, and if you are trying to replicate the whim of your listeners, you aren't really expressing yourself. Follow your own changing tastes, and keep going in this direction only if you are content to do so.

Cheers!

JakobePaulobe responds:

Thanks for the feedback man, I was wondering if anyone was ever going to acknowledge that this song exists :P I was actually considering deleting it. I think the guitars are a bit too harsh on the ears at times.

Hmm...

Sounds like not crap.

Nice job with this one. Loops perfectly, sounds great, keep it up!

Morphone responds:

Thanks.

Wow.

This song was definitely more interesting than I thought it would be at first.

The thing that makes it stand out is its flawless sound quality and use of ambient back-noises. The melody ain't too bad either, though I would have wished for just a little more variety.

Nevertheless, this song gets my seal of approval. Good job.

Morphone responds:

Thanks. I got a few requests for a more varied melody but I am just gonna leave it for now. I figure it'll do.

Neat!

An interesting piece. When I read the part in your description about this being your first attempt at ambient, I automatically assumed, (usually correctly) that It wasn't really going to be ambient at all.

However, I was wrong in this particular case. You definitely pulled off an interesting electronic soundscape here, and I imagine it would fit well into a puzzle game or something along that line.

I assume you used that trance sparkle chopper for your melody, which I am surprised to see pulled off this well in an ambient song.

In short, good work. Have a 5, and an eyebrow raise of curiosity from me. I will definitely check out your other stuff.

joethesouleater responds:

thanks =) I've been trying out a lot of new genres, recently I made a classical string quartet song that i think sounds really good. Thank you for you're review and the 9 and 5.
