The song was interesting, though the instrumentation was a bit muddy. Not sure if that was intentional or not. However, but let me give you a little advice on etiquette.

Don't ever ask people to vote 5 on your songs, even if you think they deserve 5s. Doing so actively discriminates your songs from getting 5s, even if they do deserve them. It's better to say 'Vote fairly, ladies and gentlemen.'

LuigiofDarkness responds:

If you honestly think I typed "vote 5" because I seriously want someone to give me a disingenuous score, then you have a serious lack of the understanding of my psychology.

Don't tell me what to do. It's my song, and I'll type what ever the fuck I want to.
Good day.

Nice short track here. My brain danced a little bit.

Though, this is about as far removed from Ambient as a song can get. Perhaps if you got a petition going, you could get the NG staff to add 'Braindance' to the list of genres.

Rhoder responds:

that's true. but there isn't a genre called "IDM" on here anyways. I could put it in Misc., but I do not like being just another "misc" artist.

thanks!

An interesting song, to say the least. The opening reminded me heavily of C418's song 'Moog City'.

I kinda wish there was more to the song, though. It feels like it ought to have developed more than it did.

SineRider responds:

I'm definitely going to expand it I just need to figure out where to go next. I think the drums indicate some motion, but listening again, I don't like how they sound

You know, whenever I discover a song in the Ambient section that is actually Ambient, I must stop to enjoy it.

This song is very luscious and calming. It would make a very good background to a Knytt Stories level.

SunStarsMoon responds:

They should leave the "genre" option free for us to write what we want. The list of genres is very limited and when something doesn't fit with "rock", "pop", "rnb" or "classical", it often ends in the ambient section.. Ambient is very large and vague though :)
Thanks for the review! I'll check the Knytt Stories, I think I played a game from their creator(s) (NightSky).

Personally I think it's a little too loud and bombastic to be thinking music. Perhaps if you toned it down a bit.

skipspace responds:

I can understand that completely, thanks for your opinion on it!

A lovely song, to be sure.

I can definitely imagine what you describe here. I particularly like the way this song begins and ends.

skipspace responds:

Thank you! I thought that just a simple fade in and out with something simple fit nicely with this.

I like the idea of taking a real performance, and mixing it into a full song, and I think this piece has an interesting melody.

However, the song itself is kind of shoddy in technical aspects. It doesn't build very well, and many of the chords are off-beat with the main theme. I'm thinking if you try something like this again, you should plan further ahead on how the pieces will fit together.

As you mentioned, it doesn't look like you poured enough time into this piece, and that should be something for you to consider next time. That is really all I have to say.

VegetarianMeat responds:

I like that the chords aren't 100% on time, kind of a personal issue I guess. Anyways I see where you're coming from, but I tried my best in any case.

When I went to record this, I was hoping to get an improvisational thing going on. That worked to some extent, but there was a lot of material. I tried to get as much time as I could working on it, but I could only work on it if he was free and I could book the editing room. Sorry if it wasn't to your taste man, I have another one I'm working on that I have more free reign with, so I'm gonna be able to fully do my thang. Maybe you'll like that one better.

Thanks for the review I appreciate it!

Not exactly Ambient... Then again Ambient means just about anything on Newgrounds, so I'm really just wasting my time trying to correct people on that.

The song itself is nice, though I find the beat and melody to be a bit repetitive. I do like your attempts to evolve the song through the middle, but it still comes off as more or less the same to me. My only advice really would be to experiment with your song's main theme as it progresses. Let it transform naturally and it will leave more of an impression on your listeners!

Cheers,

Tulvadar responds:

Wow! Love your ideas. The truth is, i don`t know how to classify my music. Enigma makes songs that can be repetitive and with similar beats, and yet they call themselves "ambient". That means that term "ambient" can be discussed about. My melodies are a bit repetitive. That is because i like building up a lot of material. Almost like "Bolero" from Maurice Ravel. To other people that looks like an "attempt" to evolve through a song. To me it is just introducing new atmosphere, melodies, emotions, thoughts etc. Somebody likes it, others don`t. However, your suggestion has definitely sparkled my curiosity. I`ll try to do something about it.

My you've come a long way since I first found you!

I think the included vocals really added to the track, as opposed to detracting from it. Then again, I couldn't really understand what was being sung anyways. :P

Overall the song is extremely well done and crisp to my ears! Happy 100th, and here's to continued musical prosperity!

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks man!

That's great to hear. Yeah, I have a tendency to wash out the enunciation with reverb and keeping the vocals hiding behind the music. I am saying stuff though ;). I like the mystery and the vocals just being another layer of ambiance.

I Thank you for your ears, Fubaka!

You do play quite well.

Though I must ask, have you tried your hand at composing your own songs?

Musicious responds:

Thank you!
No, I'm sorry to say that I didn't do that to this day. Maybe I'll give it a go.
