Interesting song. I'm not exactly sure what you were going for, though, so I feel I wouldn't be able to offer any useful critique.

Regardless, it's nice to feed my ears different tunes every now and then, especially how similar so many songs are in the Portal.

Keep bangin' out those beats!

MirgilCando responds:

Yeah, it was really experimental. I wanted a jazzy vibe going on, but I really love it when the entire mood of a song suddenly changes. I wanted it to drastically change, but the jazz to come back in the end and mix really well. Thanks a ton for the review though!

I can definitely tell the amount of sheer effort that went into this. It's often hard for me to put that much focus into a single song.

It's definitely funkalicious, and I think the lyrics are interesting, both in word and tone.

I may have to keep an eye on this one.

Great cover!

Did you ever see the documentary For All Mankind, which features the music from Apollo, Atmospheres and Soundtracks?

SineRider responds:

Thanks! I've been meaning to watch it but never got around to it

This is very much the kind of song I would put to repeat while doing something else.

In a way, it reminds me of Aisatsana.

SineRider responds:

Thanks man! Love Aisatsana

The long pauses make for interesting punctuation. The quieter bits of the song are played very well, and I think you have a good melody going here. The heavier bits are very dirty, however, and that's where I would practice.

Also, are you a fan of the old Diablo games, cause this sounds very Tristrammy.

MikeeUSA responds:

Yes, I love Diablo 1
Diablo 1 was my first "real" computer game I got.
Wonderful. I loved the atmosphere in it.

In the game/stand-alone-mod I make things for there is a random-connected duengon map I made
called Darkhold. It's supposed to have a feel of the cathedral levels
of Diablo 1 but in full 3d ofcourse :)

It has an overworld section, then the randomly-connected cathedral area
and below that is a randomly connected jail/caverns area. I recorded some bass songs for that level.

One can start with medeval weapons if one wishes.

I really love Diablo 1 and its music. The score is nice just to listen to
when making a map, runs ideas thought your head as you're building the
architechture that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Thankyou for reviewing this song, I'm glad you feel Diablo in it, thats
what I was going for :D

A decent melody, well executed, with no technical flaws.

However, I find that it doesn't have a lot of places to go to. I guess that's the desert for you, eh?

MrNightVarga responds:

I don't think it's necessary for it to go somewhere, it's just something to get you to relax. =)

Thanks for the review.

This song isn't nearly as bad as the score makes it out to be.

However, it wasn't anything incredible either. The melody feels like it isn't able to say what it wants to. I would highly suggest checking out the works of Boux to see how a song like this can be done spectacularly well.

Keep playing, mate, and don't mind the hate.

MikeeUSA responds:

Thank you for the tips. I'll keep playing :)

Could you take a look at this new one: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/607119
I did it on the nylon string.

Excellent lounge melody you got here.

Very rich use of instrumentation, in a way, it reminded me of a much smoother Boards of Canada track, and that's pretty damn good!

Svenzo responds:

Thanks man

Excellent use of piano near the end. In a way, this song reminded me of a calmer and less crazy version of one of μ-ziq.

spikel responds:

Thank you

This is an excellent stage-setting track. I would definitely consider using this in some sort of laid-back RPG, that is, if I was making one. :P

spikel responds:

Thank you glad you liked
